About Me

Thank you for visiting. Starting therapy can be an exciting journey on the path to healing. I have spent the past 16 years working within mental health as a registered nurse, primarily working with people who present to emergency departments in crisis. I am caring, understanding, curious, and optimistic for recovery. Over the years I have come to develop my understanding of the impact of psychological trauma, which can impact many aspects of our personal and social lives. After completing my Masters in the Conversational Model I now better understand how we can recover from trauma.

As part of the LGBTQI+ community I have a detailed and personal understanding of the intricate issues in which we face. I am an advocate therefore for social justice and pride.

I continue to engage in my own personal and professional development through peer supervision, individual supervision, and ongoing learning.

I offer therapy to those 18 years and older, via tele-health.

My Professional Experience

I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse and I have worked within many areas of the public mental health system for many years. These include Acute Crisis Teams, inpatient psychiatric wards, and community assessment services. For the past 10 years I have been working in Consultation Liaison and latterly Emergency Departments working with clients needing psychological input when in crisis. I have a depth of knowledge in mental health and a keen focus on trauma and recovery.

About the Conversational Model

The Conversational Model is a psychodynamic psychotherapy based on the work over many years by Prof Russell Meares and Dr Robert Hobson, incorporating developmental psychology, cognitive theory and attachment theory. It is a relational model, emphasising how early developmental relational trauma shapes many severe adult psychiatric problems and how to deal with this in short, medium and long-term therapy.

The Model has been developed for a range of chronic psychiatric syndromes that are difficult to treat, particularly borderline personality disorder, dissociative disorders, other personality disorders, treatment resistant depression and somatic disorders.

It is an evidence-based treatment, with positive randomised controlled trials for the treatment of depression, deliberate self-harm, complex somatic disorders and borderline personality disorder.

The Conversational Model has an established research base making it one of the best validated of all contemporary psychotherapies.
